Non-pharmacological treatment of psychiatric problems become increasingly important and is one of the focus areas in modern Brain research. Researchers are presently conducting a large number of clinical studies to evaluate who will benefit most from TMS therapy. For example, there is a lot of interest in evaluating whether TMS with antidepressant medications or another form of adjunct therapies is more effective than TMS alone. Since TMS is a relatively new procedure, there is much yet to be learned about particular variables that may affect the response to TMS.
In our practice, we have successfully treated patients with major depression with co-morbid other physical illnesses like Parkinson Disease and drug dependency.
Other research is focused on validating the use to other conditions such as anxiety, PTSD, addiction, and others.
